These zones of land were established with the mandate of promoting and facilitating trade, investment and enterprise development in the country. They act as a Free Trade Zone, offering occupants of that area world-class infrastructure, tax exemptions and various other incentives to do business. In 2006 The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Act advanced, and the Zambian government approved the establishment of these Multi-facility Economic Zones since then, they added several incentives to the ZDAMFEZ Act to encourage export and additionally lowered the threshold for local investors. The Act provides for investment thresholds to qualify for fiscal and non-fiscal incentives. Incentives which apply equally to all qualified investors - whether from Zambia or outside Zambia.
